Summer Is Here; Let's Sort Out the Garden!

Finally we've escaped the chill of winter and a cold spring kicking off 2023; now let's sort the garden! This video shows a job we did for a customer in Highgate last year. The fence and deck were cleaned, sanded down and restored with Sandolin wood finish. It was a long and arduous project but the results you can see in the video, speak for themselves. A more economical alternative is to paint the deck with Deck Rescue Paint, but it just wouldn't have the same classic, natural feel.

The keys to success with wood finishing are to use methylated spirits to clean the timber, and make sure the sanding dust is cleaned off the timber. Making at least two passes with the sander, with increasing grades of sandpaper is a must. Apply the varnish or stain in thin coats with even strokes to avoid dripping, I personally prefer using a foam mini-roller wherever possible.
